As of today, testing window for 3rd graders is from March 30th through April 10, 2014. (Additional assessment date information can be found on OCPS website at ) Your child will be tested on ELA (English/Language Arts) and Mathematics. It will be a timed test and this time around it will be a paper/pencil assessment.

The FSA (Florida Standards Assessment) website has sample tests for ALL grade levels. Please take a few minutes to look over the information. This affects all Florida counties, so feel free to pass the information along to family and friends.

***** A message from the 3rd Grade Teachers:

Our third grade classrooms are risk-free and a positive learning environments. It is our goal to have students feel comfortable in their surroundings and know that they can be themselves and make mistakes freely. We strive to create a warm and inviting classroom. From the first day of school to the last day of school, we focus on building a classroom community. Expectations are also a huge part of our classroom environment. We spend time reviewing expectations for behavior, actions, and classwork. We believe in every single one of our students. Each of them has the potential to succeed in school and in life. We encourage my students to strive to do and be their very best.

Most of the lessons we teach require lots of planning and preparation outside of the normal school day. As a third grade team, we enjoy and take pride creating these lessons and activities, which promote student achievement. Our curriculum is ever changing, and it is our job to stay on top of it and figure out which lessons or ideas will best suit the needs of our students. Some of the lessons require lots of peer-to-peer collaboration and incorporate technology. We can always help and learn from one another.
