Welcome to Mrs. Bossard's 1st Grade Classroom!
View original image in a new window. Dear Parents,

I hope you had a fantastic weekend! This is the last week of school. It has been such a wonderful year!! I have truly enjoyed having each of your children in my class. We have made so many great memories. I am going to miss each of them tremendously. They are each so talented and are going to do outstanding things in this world. Thank you so much for all of your support this year. Always feel free to stop by and say hi next year. I will always be here for your children. Have a wonderful summer!!! :)

Important Weekly Information:

- Monday is POPSICLE DAY. We will be eating popsicles outside at 1:30.

- This Tuesday is PAJAMA DAY and READ-A-THON DAY. Your child may wear their pajamas and bring a book to school to read.

- Dance Festival is this Wednesday, May 22nd from 9:30-10:45. . Please make sure your child is wearing their purple tie dyed shirt this Wednesday, May 22nd for the Dance Festival.

- On Thursday, we will be having a pizza party @ 2 to celebrate the end of the year.

- Summer birthdays for students who are not in school for their birthdays will be celebrated on the last week of school. I messaged the parents of these students on Class Dojo to let them know which day their child will be celebrated. You may bring a small treat for the class if you would like. :)

- We will be having an END OF THE YEAR CLASS PARTY on the last day of school from 9:20-10:30. I will be handing out certificates for the year to the students.

- LAST DAY OF SCHOOL is Friday, May 24th. This day will be a MINIMAL DAY 9:15-10:45. :)

Here is some General Information:

- Just a reminder that I use Class Dojo as a classroom management tool. Dojo is aligned to the 21st century skills. Students can receive and lose points based on their choices through out the day.

You can get on to Class Dojo, click on kids at the bottom, and then click view report at the end of everyday. This will show you how their day is going and it is very specific. Please make sure if you are seeing consistent positive or negative behavior on Dojo, you either praise their behavior and good choices or sit and have a discussion with your child about how to make better choices.

Thank you so much for your support. :)

- Attendance Reminder: As you know, attendance is crucial to your child's academics. When your child is absent they miss out on critical instruction and can start to build gaps in their learning over time. These gaps can get bigger and cause your child to struggle and fall behind as they continue in school. Please try to make sure your child is at school regularly and is on time as well. If you know before hand that your child is going to be absent, please reach out to me a few days in advance so I can get some work together for them. If they are sick and out for a day or two, I completely understand. Please let me know and I will put their missing work in their mailboxes to take home and complete when they return. You can also stop by the office to get it or send a sibling to get any work they missed for the day. Thank you for your support!! :)

- Here is the First Grade Snow Day Website: https://sites.googl..-sky-1st-grade/home

- The weather is now colder. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothes for the weather and has a jacket to keep them nice and warm. Students are also playing in the snow. If you want to send them with gloves and have them wear snow boots that is fine too. This way they can play and not be cold and wet. :)

- Please talk to your children and remind them to use the restroom before they come to school and during their break times. We take a morning bathroom break at 10:30, lunch break is @ 12:15, and afternoon break is @ 2:00. Also, remind them they are free to go in class when we are working independently at our seats. This will hopefully minimize the amount of students leaving in the middle of a lesson to go use the restroom. I would hate for them to feel left behind and get frustrated because they are unsure of what they should be doing on an assignment. Thank you so much for all of your support!! :)

- The district has changed their policy on volunteers. All volunteers on campus whether helping with copies, working with students, or helping with class parties must be background checked. There is a fee of $35, but it is a lifetime background check. You won’t have to do it again if your child/children stay in Alpine School District. If you want to help with our Halloween party, I would try to get that done as soon as possible. To get background checked, you can just call the district office to get scheduled or google Alpine School District fingerprinting to schedule an appointment.

This classroom website will give you all the information you will need for this school year. It will provide you with homework information, classroom rules, routines, and policies. Please check the website every Monday for weekly updates. This website will be our way of communicating to keep you in the loop always. :)

If you have any questions, feel free to message me on ClassDojo or email me.

Have a wonderful week! :)

Mrs. Bossard :)
